Course Descriptions

This course provides sets of knowledge, trains a set of skills. This unit is an attempt to arouse students’ awareness toward scientific researches particularly those of educational researches related to language teaching, English language teaching particularly for Indonesian native speakers. The knowledge covers ontology, epistemology and axiology of the researches. The skills cover the search, the titling and the theorizing research problems and the choosing of the form and content of instruments with the discussion and the summarizing of data analysis. The set of attitudes cover rational, objective, and critical, skeptical (open), cooperative, and responsible related to the attitude to do the research (This course provides students with information on the nature and characteristics of research on English language classrooms. Materials cover types of studies commonly conducted to investigate phenomena in English language classrooms, their characteristics and steps in conducting each type of study. Students’ classroom activities include individual work, pair work, and group work. Evaluation on students’ achievement is based on classroom participation, home assignments, the mid-semester test, and the final test).

This course consists of several types of research so that students are able to make proposals and implement both quantitative and qualitative research. The course teaches to make Chapter 1 consisting of research backgrounds, research problems formulation, research objectives, research benefits, definition of keyword research, and research hypothesis. The course also teaches Chapter 2 Researcements consisting of the foundation of research theory, previous research, and hypothesis test. The course also teaches Chapter 3 research or methodology research consisting of research design, research variables, populations and samples of research, research instruments, research data techniques, analysis of data. The course also teaches Chapter 4 consisting of exposure to research data and analysis of research data. The course also teaches Chapter 5 Results of conclusion and research suggestions.

Learning Outcomes

S7 bekerjasama dan memiliki kepekaan sosial serta kepedulian terhadap masyarakat dan lingkungan.

 

S9 menunjukkan sikap bertanggung jawab atas pekerjaan dibidang keahliannya secara mandiri.

 

KO1 mampu menerapkan pemikiran logis, kritis, sistematif, dan efektif dalam konteka pengembangan atau implementasi ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang memperhatikan dan menerapkan nilai humaniora yang sesuai dengan bidang pendidikan bahasa inggris.

KO4 menyusun deskripsi scientific hasil kajian tersebut dalam bentuk skripsi atau laporan tugas akhir dan mengunggahnya dalam laman perguruan tinggi.
