RPS (Rencanan Perkuliahan Semester)
This course is designed to examine the basics of phonology, in particular the rules, processes and
constraints that are employed in the phonology of English. The goal of the course is to provide
students with a basic understanding of phonology and of the sound system of English by means of
a combination of lectures discussing the issues and practical group exercises, where there will be
an opportunity to practice the principles discussed in lectures. This course is aimed at students
with little or no background in phonology.
Learning OutcomesAt the end of the teaching and learning process, the students are able to:
CPMK1 identify the difference between IPA symbols in English and Bahasa Indonesia clearly

CPMK2 explain how the sound is produced through the speech organs and airstream mechanism

CPMK3 interpret places of articulation & manner of articulation in English & Bahasa Indonesia

CPMK4 deconstruct suprasegmental and segmental features correctly (S9, KU8, KK3, P14)
CPMK5 test plural, present & past participle formation correctly and fluently (S9, KU1, KK3,
P14)
CPMK6 design a project concerning English & Bahasa Indonesia sounds creatively (S9, KU1,
