Course Descriptions

English Grammar  is one of the four English Grammar courses given to the second semester students. This course is the continuation of the previous English Grammar (Fundamental Grammar). It focuses on the COMPOUND SENTENCES in different types of sentences (e.g: declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamation) and in any tenses  and voices (active and passive). This course is as a provision for the students to communicate in  English both in spoken and  written forms and it is mostly  presented in structural exercises.

Learning Outcomes

After taking grammar 1 course, students are able to:

CPMK 1

Differentiate between  phrase and clause  (S8, S9, KU2, KU 10, KK1, KK10, PP13, PP14)

CPMK 2

Identify  the characteristics of active and passive voice  in different tenses and different types of sentences (S8, S9, KU2, KU 10, KK1, KK10, PP13, PP14)

CPMK 3

Identify  the characteristics of Compound sentences  in different tenses, voices and different types of sentences (S8, S9, KU2, KU 10, KK1, KK10, PP13, PP14)

CPMK 4

Determine  the connectors/conjunctions when constructing compound sentences in different tenses, different  voices, and different types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory sentences) (S8, S9, KU2, KU 10, KK1, KK10, PP13, PP14)

CPMK 5

Construct compound sentences in different tenses, different  voices, and different types of sentences focusing the use of “Auxiliaries” and “Agreement.  (S8, S9, KU2, KU 10, KK1, KK10, PP13, PP14)

CPMK 6

Produce compound sentences in different tenses, different  voices, and different types of sentences focusing the use of punctuation (S8, S9, KU2, KU 10, KK1, KK10, PP13, PP14)
